a girl after my own heart! <3

i bought this doll for lola when she was a baby, and gave it to her on her 6 month birthday. i knew when i seen it i HAD to have it for her. It was so much like the doll i had as a child. my doll used to have hair too. lol they make dolls much cuter these days…. and well as you know i LOVE dolls and i am delighted that miss Lola has taken to this one just as much as mummy did. (:

In May of this year my best friend Ruth found out her 1000lb baby Kia, her horse, had cancer…. an aggressive tumour in the lower jaw, and with great pain a decision was made to put the horse to sleep.

A few from the mini session i did in memory of her beautiful horse, and the bond and loved they  shared.

is a pillowcase dress, that i made! (:

i wasn’t happy with the last pillowcase dress i made, i didn’t like the style of it. so i searched for another pattern and found one i loved! here is the pattern i used.

oh and i want to make this one for lola. i need to get some elastic thread first.

for the dress pictured i used a King Size pillowcase and it came the the ruffle which sets it off beautifully!

now.. on to the fun part… getting pictures of my girls in them. (: LOL

we started a new tradition…. this year we made Canada a Birthday cake… and all 4 get to help, as well,  all are Canadians. (: in our house only the B-day person gets to help make the cake, so they we all delighted to join in on the fun!

and you can’t have 4 cooks in the kitchen without this… lol

we used my late grandmother Mary’s cake recipe, my first time trying it, and it turned out yummy…. we all stood up and sang OH CANADA before we dug in! (;

and all miss Lola got was a beater. LOL poor girl, she doesn’t get chocolate…. yet… we save that right of passage for her 2nd Birthday, just one of my quirks. (;

and we’ve been dabbling in our summer bucket list… got a pool! set it up today for the first time and they had a blast!

and then we had a little squall….. was inspired by Vera to grab a shot of the clouds. i never think to take pics like that…. but they look so cool!

Happy Canada Day! So proud to be Canadian! instilling a little bit of that pride… (:

still editing archives from last july….

found this beautiful bed of grass last summer. it was an amazing spot because there were no mosquitos, and only a few feet down the road they would carry you away they were that thick!

and that same bed of grass… something about this one i love mommy goggles wise. (;

i found this on our white board, lexi wrote it. miss leah had her first crush at the age of 4, she still loves this boy named Will.

while i was editing i thought i’d share a before|after in LR. this is my preset “wildflower”.

these are the little details in life that just get me, all the firsts, and hard to believe only a year ago she was just learning to grasp!

our little lexi pixie. i love the lensbaby. i can only use it in small doses tho, i find i tend to strain my eyes with it. i need to get it out again…

we have friends visiting from San Diego. So i will prob have to post more from July next week. (: thanks for looking.

i have some beautiful artwork lexi made that i’ve been wanting to frame. she did this piece in art class when she was 5 years old. i think it is so amazing and wall worthy. i am attempting to get my bare walls full! so a couple of weeks ago Brandi A shared a link to a fabulous site with me, (thanks B!) and i hunted around until i found the frame idea which literally made me squeal with delight.

the frame above was an old one in my basement. I have been trying to reuse things around here so to be a little more green. it was an ugly old macktack fake woodgrain  frame, uh it was ugly. i can’t believe i ever bought it. so after seeing the frame idea i gave it a try.

i painted it, then dabbed my paintbrush to make a texture all over it. i intended to keep it plain white, but since the paint did not stick to it all very well, it started to come off. so then i distressed it and there now i have artworked framed and it really didn’t cost me anything at all. (:

i’m excited about this little project that Melissa (momtutugirls&aboy) and i are doing together! every monday we are going to blog pictures from 2009. Our goal is to get thru our archives and catch up on some editing. I know i am way behind a few years!  what makes editing archives more fun? why sharing them of course (: …. so i picked my tops faves from last june, not necessarily perfect, but captured a little something special that mean a lot to me now esp one year later!

one year ago…

she was sleeping in her Jeep Rocker. the safest place to put her was on the table. (; she was 3m here.

and miss leah graduated from Preschool.

nothing says summer like dirty feet. (; i think i am going to hide all the socks this summer. lol

even before miss lola was born Cain had a special bond with her. she is going to be lucky to have a big brother to watch out for her.

things i want to remember…  footie jammies and peeled apples. i have a phobia of them choking on apple peels. lol C now will eat his with peels, i do eventually get over it once they get a good set of molars. (;

and lupin season! i caught the emotion but missed the focus. lol oh well i guess i can try again this year. i’ve been itching to get out in the lupins again!

june is the start of our beach season! miss lola in her first bikini!

the bond. technically bad, but mommy goggles thinks she loves this pic of her oldest and youngest together. i also think i need to get more shots like this.

obsessed with bare feet, esp babies feet, even covered with woolies. lol

and finally my brood in their world 2009! i just got the wide angle last year and so was playing with it. i loved how they were decorating the baby. lol

-take children to park to swing > check! and will be checked off again and again over the summer. so i will be sure to share more park pics. (:

never would have thought i’d fill up a whole swing set. LOL but i LOVE the fact that we do. I’m just glad we were the only ones there that day. (;
